Muntada Aid empowers women and communities in Niger and Mali with the training and resources to build sustainable lives within their own local ecosystems — because the most marginalised are the most exposed to climate, economic and political shocks.

Muntada Aid's livelihoods programme empowers women and communities by providing them with the training and resources to build lives within their local ecosystems.
Sustainable livelihood programmes offer people in extreme poverty a gateway out of the cycle of economic deprivation.
According to the most recent figures, over 736 million people in the world live on less than $1.90 a day. In the context of the global population, that is roughly 10% of the world's population.
What is Muntada Aid doing?
Muntada Aid is working with some of the poorest communities in Niger and Mali, where we provide people living in urban centres with small commercial vehicles, vocational training for young people (mobile repair, office management and seamstress courses), and equipment for young women in the Sahel region.
Breaking the cycle of extreme poverty
The most marginalised communities are even more exposed to climate change and to economic and political changes in these countries. We aim to allow people to build sustainable livelihoods by providing them with opportunities within their own communities.

We work with some of the poorest communities in Niger and Mali, investing in small-scale farmers and women with the tools and skills to earn a living.
Motorised cargo 3-wheelers helping urban families earn a living in Niger and Mali.
Five goats and training for rural farming families in Niger — a reliable, year-round income.
Six-month tailoring courses and sewing machines for women in Niger.
Technical and vocational training in Mali, opening the door to stable careers.
Building Livelihoods
Motorised 3-wheelers for commercial cargo
Muntada Aid provides motorised 3-wheeler cargo vehicles to help disadvantaged families in urban towns in Niger and Mali. Launched in 2024, the scheme has been a real success story — families who receive a vehicle have seen their monthly income rise significantly, transformative in countries where the average income can be just £100 a month.

Goat rearing
Why goat rearing?
Muntada Aid provides five goats to farming families in rural Niger, along with the training to care for them — then checks in quarterly to see how families are doing. Goats are hardy, low-maintenance animals, perfect for challenging climates, with short reproduction cycles and a reliable year-round income from milk, meat, butter and hides.
Education in Mali
Vocational & technical education
There are many reasons behind growing unemployment in Niger and Mali, including a changing economic and technological landscape. Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) improves the skills of the workforce and drives young people towards jobs and careers that offer more economic stability.
Muntada Aid set up a vocational college in Mali, providing young people with courses that open the door to more rewarding businesses and careers.
