About the water crisis in Gaza

Even before the war, clean water in Gaza was scarce. Today the situation is catastrophic — desalination has all but collapsed, almost none of the water is safe to drink, and millions of people urgently need clean water.

The crisis

Gaza Water Crisis

Water in Gaza is a precious commodity.

With near-total destruction of public water infrastructure, nearly the entire Gaza population lacks proper access to clean water.

Seawater contaminates the groundwater. Wastewater is contaminating drinking water, and with the destruction of pipes, people now rely heavily on water trucks.

According to the latest reports by UNICEF, an average person in Gaza has access to just 4-6 litres of clean water. The UN's minimum access during conflict or a natural disaster is around 15 litres. The average global access to clean water is around 85 litres per person.

Our response

What is Muntada Aid doing?

We are providing clean water tankers daily to over 4100 people in the Strip. Our aim is to reach at least half a million people with clean water in the Strip.

In 2025, we provided clean water, food and medical aid to over 560,000 people in the besieged territory.
